Biography

 Congressman Trent Franks, elected in 2002 to represent District 2 of Arizona, sits on the Armed Services Committee as well as the Judiciary Committee.

Prior to being elected to Congress, Mr. Franks was a small business owner, serving as President and CEO of Liberty Petroleum Corporation, an oil and gas exploration company based in Arizona.

Congressman Franks was previously a Member of the Arizona House of Representatives. He served as Vice Chairman of the House Commerce Committee and Chairman of the House Sub-Committee on Child Protection and Family. 

Committed to providing choice in education, in 1997 Mr. Franks was the author and leading proponent of the successful passage of the Arizona Scholarship Tax Credit Bill.  In 2003 he introduced the Children s Hope Act, legislation that encourages states to enact their own state scholarship tax credit.   If a state enacts a scholarship tax credit of $250 or more, all residents of that state are eligible to take part in an additional federal tax credit.  

Trent Franks also served four and a half years as the Executive Director of the Arizona Family Research Institute, a non-profit organization with the purpose of advocating the protection of children and families in Arizona.

Trent has received numerous honors, including:

    Trent and his wife Josephine have been married for 26 years and are members of North Phoenix Baptist Church.
